2010-New Year trip to Malta-1

It is time to write my New Year trip! It took me ages to write a new page in my blog after disappointing so many returning guests, sorry. I have been crazily busy for exams until last Christmas, and then I had a extremely relaxing month for a break. Now it is a brand new year for me and all of you!
Why Malta? Last summer, we were talking about our New Year trip, and suddenly Malta pumped into my head, therefore I said "Ok, let's go to Malta". In the following 4 hours, I searched the cheapest tickets and booked. So we did not need to hesitate to choose our destination. It was kind of easy. It turned out to be a great trip but a bit too long.

29. Dec.2009
We took the ferry to Stockholm at 9pm, and arrived in the morning 6.30. It was freezing cold, since we were travelling to the south, so we did not take too much clothes except summer skirts and shirts. But it was wrong. Now some travel tips for travellers:

If you want to cruise between Stockholm and Turku or Helsinki, the cheapest way is by ferry. We paid 44 euros for two persons, for a small cabin with two beds. Book your tickets at http://www.vikingline.fi/. If you are living in Finland or Sweden for a while, you can apply the Viking Club membership, which will save you a great deal of money each time. The membership card get discounts to anywhere using Viking line ferries, for example from Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia too. Only thing you need for the application is that you need an address in either of these two countries.

30.Dec, we had a Mongolian dinner party with some of my friends in Stockholm. It was a lovely day. We used to hang out often in Huhhot, Inner Mongolia(My hometown), now we are meeting in Sweden. It is a strange world, sometimes rather small!

31.Dec-New Year Eve, we flew from Skavasta airport to Malta, a pleasant weather right after -9degree. Imagine, wow, welcome to summer! We mostly choose Ryanair flights for our travel, this time was no exception. We paid for our return flights for 260 euros, no bad for a 3h40 minutes flight. Sometimes I do complain about Ryanair services in some circumstances, however, something nice changed my opinion. For the trip in March.2010 to Canarian islands, my first and last name was misplaced, and I thought there is NO any hope to change it through Ryanair office. But I did try to contact the office and explained my reasons and the friendly lady changed them for me. WOW, it was a great impression on Ryanair. Unfortunately, I did not get her name, would like to send a greeting card for my appreciation:)

Ok finally Malta! This was in Malta airport, people are flying I guess.

Small buses are funny:) It is not comfortable for tall and strong people I bet.
Never seen so many small yellow buses anywhere in Europe. Some bus drivers are crazily fast, snaking along the narrow streets.
Read the restriction sign:)
Some doors are cute.
A handsome is looking to the future:)
The blue grotto.

Waste management is not very good to be honest.
Old temples are protected under the white umbrella.

Can you see the girl on the edge?
Walking there first actually.

  1. I have always wanted to visit Malta, with its rocky beaches and narrow streets... It seems to be very different from any other place in Europe and in the world for that matter. Have a nice 2010 as well! Take care! =)

  3. Hi Dom,
A late reply! Yes, it was really nice trip, but rather windy. If you like hot weather, I would suggest everyone to go there in late spring or summer. To be honest, the streets are too narrow, hard to walk, imagine. Very noisy because of cars and narrow streets. So there are always pros and cons everywhere. I do recommend you to go to Capri, Italy one day.
    Cheers.
